Silicon Carbide (SiC) Polished to Mirror Finish
Silicon Carbide, which is theoretically dense and intrinsically pure, is available from Valley Design as lapped or polished substrates and wafers ranging from 2 inches to 300 millimeters in diameter. It features surface finishes better than 10 angstroms while maintaining a quarter-wave flatness, depending on thickness and size.
Substrate size, commonly in stock: 2″ x 2″ (+/- 0.005″) x 0.025″ (+/- 0.0005″) thick, polished on one side to 1 microinch Ra.
Wafer size, often in stock: 100 mm diameter, polished on one side.
Thinnest wafers and substrates available: 0.001″ (25 microns).
Valley Design’s precision dicing capability can produce Silicon Carbide dice as small as 0.005″ x 0.005″ x 0.001″ thick.
