Lapping and Polishing of Materials with Spray Coatings
Thermal spray coating is a surface modification process where molten or softened particles are applied by impact onto a surface such as stainless steel. Valley Design can assist with the lapping and/or polishing of materials with this spray coating.
High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) Tungsten Carbide Cobalt (WC-Co) coatings produce extremely dense, near zero porosity and wear resistant surfaces. Besides the benefits of WC/Co, with the addition of Chromium, WC-Co-Cr, the sprayed surfaces now become corrosion resistant. For critical applications, such as high pressure oil and gas slab gate valves and cylindrical valves, surfaces need to be precision finished. Slabs and cylinders need to be flat, smooth, parallel and scratch-free.
