Multispectral Zinc Sulfide (ZnS)
Cleartran TM, Irtran - 2, Clear ZnS
Cleartran TM, clear Multispectral and Irtran - 2 are all water-clear form of chemically vapor deposited (CVD) Zinc Sulfide. Modified to be Water free by a HIP process where the zinc hydrides are removed from the crystal lattice.
Now the material has good transmission in the visible and infrared (0.4 to 14 microns). It is theoretically dense, chemically inert, non-hygroscopic and easy to machine.
Applications include:
- Thermal imaging
- External windows for military systems
- IR windows
- Uses where visible alignment is an advantage
