Lapping services of all materials are provided by Valley Design on parts from the smallest ultra-thin, ultra-flat and ultra-smooth parts to those that are 32" in diameter or 6' long extrusion dies. Lapping services are available from both Valley Design locations serving East and West coasts from our 30,000 combined square foot facilities in Santa Cruz, California and Shirley, Massachusetts.

    Valley Design has been a leader in materials processing for over 34 years and is an ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturer. The company offers precision lapping, polishing, dicing, optical edge/angle polishing, thinning, grinding, shaping and wafering services. Valley specializes in ultra-thin (as thin as 20-25 microns), ultra-flat (1/10 Wave) super-polishing (< 10/5 scratch/dig or 5-10 Angstroms) and tight tolerances (+/- .5 micron).

    Valley enjoys extensive experience with a wide variety of materials, and is also willing to work with proprietary materials. Valley routinely processes Fused Silica, Glass, Quartz, AlN, Pyrex, 99.6% and 96% Alumina, Sapphire, AF45, BK7, B270, D263, LASFN9, 1737, 7070, Ceramics, Lithium Niobate, Borosilicates, Soda Lime, Crystals, Silicon and Metals. In stock materials include Fused Silica, 96% Alumina and 99.6% Alumina, R-plane Sapphire, Aluminum Nitride, Stainless Steel wafers, Optical Glass filters, and Float Zone Silicon.

    Valley Design provides custom parts, as well as many items from stock. We process prototype orders, as well as full production runs, and currently process over 1,000 parts daily for our customers worldwide. With facilities on both East and West Coasts, we operate multiple shifts, and are ready to serve our customers from 7:30 a.m. EST to 5:00 p.m. PST.
