Polyimide wafers, from stock, are polished on one side with less than 5nm Ra surface finish.

Thin Polyimide Wafer

Polished polyimide wafer sizes manufactured on regular basis:

  • Single and double sided polish

  • Standard thicknesses are 125µm (5mils), 250µm (10mils), 375µm (15mils), 500µm (20mils)
  • Surface finish is less than 5nm
    (Finer finishes on special order)
  • Thickness tolerances are ± 25µm (1mil) and ± 12.5µm (0.5mil)
    (Low µm thickness tolerances on special order)

Stainless Steel Mirrors

Physical properties of 17-4 PH Stainless Steel which are important for critical applications include:

  • High-strength steel alloy
  • Composition percentages: C = 0.07, Mn = 1.0 max, Ni = 3.0 – 5.0, Cu = 3.0 – 5.0, Nb + Ta = 0.15 – 0.45, Fe = balance
  • Safe, continuous operating temperature: 316°C (600°F)
  • Thermal conductivity: 17.9 W/mK
  • CTE: 10.8 x 10-6 at 100°C
  • Density: 7.75 g/cc

Metallic Optics

Using its proprietary technology, Valley Design can now produce Angstrom level optical surface finishes on these pure metal mirrors, eliminating the necessity for expensive and lower performance metallic coatings. Pure metal optics mirrors minimize distortion of the reflected image, and offer a very hard, scratch-resistant surface with low thermal distortion. Mirrors manufactured from Molybdenum and Stainless Steel exhibit many of these advantages.
