Corning® Gorilla Glass®

Featuring scratch-resistant surface and superior durability
Corning ® Gorilla Glass® is a chemically strengthened, thin, and lightweight alkali-aluminosilicate glass known for its high scratch resistance, durability, and superior surface quality, used widely in electronic devices like smartphones, tablets, automotive displays, and more, with customizable sizes and thicknesses available through Valley Design, and notable properties including high compressive strength and resistance to cracking and breakage.

Corning® Gorilla Glass® is an alkali-aluminosilicate thin sheet glass that has been chemically strengthened to resist common glass failures, enhancing its durability and scratch resistance. The glass undergoes a High Ion Exchange (HIE) process, which creates a robust compression layer on its surface. Gorilla Glass is thin and lightweight, making it an ideal cover material for the slimmest and lightest electronic devices. At just .55mm thick, it is strong enough to handle the surface pressures typical of touchscreens. Its applications include smartphones, tablets, laptops, automotive displays, and wearables.

Gorilla Glass is available from Valley Design. Wafers and substrates are easily obtainable in both standard and custom sizes, with thicknesses of .55mm, .7mm, 1.1mm, 1.3mm, and 2.0mm. Standard wafer diameters include 2”, 3”, 100mm, 125mm, 150mm, 200mm, and 300mm. Sheet stock is available up to 423mm x 460mm and has a transparency level of approximately 60/40 scratch and dig. For custom sizes, Valley can produce parts as small as 0.127mm square and up to 400mm in diameter, with options in between. If needed, Valley can also thin these materials to your specifications, going as thin as < 25um. Enhanced optical surface finishes and flatness options are also available. Additionally, Valley supplies Dragontrail™ glass produced by Asahi Glass Corporation, which shares similar properties and performance with Gorilla Glass.
